Meet Bella Baby: she’s small but mighty! She loves pup cups, rides in the car and sleeping under the covers. She is the boss around our house; she loves telling the other two dogs what to do (or mainly what not to do).
Bella wandered onto my porch back in March of 2018. She was skin and bones, clearly surviving on bugs (she loves hunting them and catches flies like a pro). We couldn’t find her previous family and believe she was dumped since she was so very skinny. We fed her good food, took her to the vet for shots, exam and care, and loved her. Now she is spoiled rotten! She runs out of the house when I take my husband to work thinking she will get a pup cup. She has a car seat so she can safely ride and see out the window. I can sometimes see her in the rear view mirror, her little ears popping up with curiosity. But if we stop, she barks incessantly — she does NOT want to be left out and always wants to be with her mom!
While under the covers in the bed, she will growl and bite at other dogs that get close to her like she’s a little demon in the sheets. It’s so funny, but she’s simply protecting her tiny little self from injury. And I think she likes bossing the other dogs around. She is a Chihuahua, after all. She is a big dog in a little dog body.
We think she is either mixed with wiener dog or Italian Greyhound since she is tall-ish with a long back. No matter her genetic makeup, she is definitely at least part chihuahua because she has the attitude of a land shark.
Bella is fantastic at taking care of me. She is always by my side if I am ever feeling blue or anxious. And, in the middle of the night if I start getting a migraine, she will wake me up by laying on my chest and staring at me. It’s a little unnerving to wake up with a dog in your face, but it is more comforting than waking up with a hamster just under your chin (that’s a story for another time). Because she wakes me up, I am able to take migraine medication prior to the migraine getting bad, which helps tremendously. The best part is that she does this all on her own; I did not train her to do this! She’s a fabulous ESA. I do not know what I would do without my little girl.
